Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) Scholarship
for Young Lawyers

Young Lawyers who are engaged in cross-border practice and with an interest in joining the IPBA Sixteenth Annual Meeting and Conference held in Sydney from 30 April to 3 May 2006 are now invited to apply for an IPBA Scholarship. The IPBA, founded in the year 1991, is an international association of business and commercial lawyers with a focus on the Asia-Pacific Region. The IPBA Annual Meeting and Conference is a multi-topic four-day conference. It offers plenary sessions of interest to all lawyers but also programs presented by the IPBAs seventeen specialist committees. The IPBA Annual Meeting and Conference provides an opportunity for lawyers throughout the region to get to know each other and to increase their legal knowledge and practice skills.

The IPBA Scholarship Program offers young lawyers (under 35 years of age) who would otherwise not be able to attend the conference the opportunity to participate in the IPBA Annual Meeting and Conference. For further details see the Scholarship application form which can be down loaded here or IPBAs website on www.ipba.org. Centre for Effective Dispute Resolutions Congress in
London

The Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) is holding its Second European Mediation Congress "Mediation the next leap forward" (the Congress) on Monday 7 November 2005 in London. The CEDR is an independent non-profit organisation supported by multinational business and leading professional bodies and public-sector organisations. It was launched in 1990 with the support of The Confederation of British Industry.

At the Congress the following critical questions will be discussed:

  • Who is using mediation, why and what are the implications? Why is mediation still underutilised?
  • Where now with mediation in the UK and Europe and what scope is there in the global market place?
  • How can lawyers make money from mediation? What lessons can be learned from failed mediations?

Fur further information please see the full program and registration form.
