Launch Party

On 1 February 2006, the Australian Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators became incorporated as a public company limited by guarantee. The branch was formed in 1995.

To celebrate the launch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Australia) Limited, the Branch held a cocktail party in Sydney at the offices of Clayton Utz Lawyers, on Friday 24 March 2006.

The President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators worldwide, Mr Colin Wall, and the Chairman of the International Board of Trustees, Mr Doug Jones, were in attendance as well as members of the Branch and others in the community who had a particular interest in alternative dispute resolution.

Seminar on International Arbitration in
Singapore and China

11 April 2006, Singapore

Jointly organised by SIAC and CIETAC, this seminar, to be conducted in English, will discuss institutional rules of international commercial arbitration, the finality of the arbitration award versus the support and supervision by courts, applicable law issues relating to arbitration agreements and problems in international commercial arbitration procedure.

Victorian Chapter Function

On behalf of the Victorian Chapter, Charles O'Neil will be hosting a luncheon in his company boardroom on Monday 10 April 2006 from 12.30 to 2.30 pm. He will be looking for 3 or 4 people to volunteer to speak for up to 8 minutes on a topic of their choice, followed by open discussion.

A sandwich lunch, with some sweets, wine, soft drinks and coffee will be provided free of charge.
