International Arbitration Diploma Course

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Australia) Limited recently held a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration Course, in conjunction with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and sponsored by the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA).

The course took place in Sydney from the 26 June to the 7 July 2006. The first week was held at the University of New South Wales main campus, while each day of the second week was spent at a different ACICA Corporate Member law firm. Over the two weeks the 23 students heard lectures on a variety of arbitration topics, from speakers that included The Hon Justice Allsop and the Hon Justice Finn.

Course Dinner

The NSW Law Society hosted a course dinner on Thursday 29 June in Sydney.

Guests included students, speakers and representatives from the various sponsor organisations.

Branch Patron Justice Garry Downes AM, of the Federal Court of Australia, was the guest speaker for the evening. To access his speech click here.
